Acting on the recommendations of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM), the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration provided enough spare clothing and footwear for migrants staying in the Bosilegrad Reception Centre and displayed the House Rules and information of relevance for migrants, in the languages they understand, on the notice board of the Reception Centre. In order to ensure the confidentiality of data on the health status of migrants, a special locker for the storage of medical documentation was provided, which only health professionals have access to. In order to ensure protection of underage and other vulnerable groups of migrants, the Bosilegrad Social Work Centre has appointed a professional worker in charge of visits of the Reception Centre and a permanent contact with the Commissariat officials.
Although all migrants located in this Reception Centre had expressed the intention to seek asylum in Serbia, the Ministry of Interior informed the NPM that there are no migrants here in the asylum procedure nor interested in submitting such a request.
The NPM visited the Bosilegrad Reception Centre on April 4, 2017, in order to monitor the treatment of competent authorities towards migrants and asylum seekers. After the visit, recommendations for the elimination of identified deficiencies were issued to the authorities.
