In accordance with the recommendations of the NPM, the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, in accordance with the development of the system of enforcement of criminal sanctions, takes measures to provide the appropriate facility for the accommodation of persons deprived of their liberty, bearing in mind that the current prison building does not meet the applicable standards of accommodation. In addition, in order to ensure the continuous presence of medical staff in the Prison and the availability of health care, the new job classification will include the position of a doctor and two medical technicians, while the Ministry of Health has performed extraordinary inspection supervision regarding the treatment of NPM recommendations. In the following period, it is planned to fill the position of lawyer at the Institute.
In order to improve the housing conditions of persons deprived of their liberty, the Prison replaced the worn mattress with new ones, and the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions requested funds to install video surveillance in the female facility, while the Prison plans funds with the purpose of providing a room for visits of close persons and conditions for exercising - sports activities. In order to respect the rights of persons deprived of their liberty, the Prison will in the future inform the family members or other close people about the admission of each new prisoner, and the duration of the visit of a person deprived of liberty will be at least 1 hour. Due to the poor architectural solution of the building, the Prison informed the NPM that it is currently not possible for the prisoners from group V and the detainees to be engaged.
The NPM visited the District prison in Uzice on April 19 and 20, 2018, after which the Report on visit with recommendations for removing the observed shortcomings and improving the treatment of persons deprived of their liberty was deliverd to the Prison.
