On the fourth session of the Second Regular Session in 2014, held on 23 October 2014, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia adopted the conclusions regarding the consideration of the report on the work of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) for the year 2013.
The National Assembly has recognized the importance of the NPM and the importance of preventing any form of torture, cruel or inhuman treatment or punishment. Also, most of the deputies of the National Assembly during the debate on the annual report of the NPM for 2013 open and accountable spoke about the necessity of eradicating torture. In this way, the National Assembly has contributed to the respect of human rights. Advocating for the rights of all those whose freedom is restricted and kept building mechanisms for protection and control mechanisms brings Serbia closer to the developed democratic countries where human and civil rights have priority.
