In the National Assembly on 26th of  June, in the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, a public hearing is going to be hold and that will be include a discussion about  Annual Report of the National Preventive Mechanism for  year 2012.  At the public hearing besides the members and representatives of NGOs, public authorities are invited.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, who was in his first official visit to Serbia, together with the Deputy Ombudsman Milos Jankovic and expert of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) Dr Vladimir Jovic, visited the Special Psychiatric Hospital "Dr Laza Lazarevic" in Padinska Skela.Nils Ragnar Kamsvag, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norwayand, and William Infante, UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia, joined the visit.

Milos Jankovic, deputy Ombudsman was a speaker at conference organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation on Tuesday, 28th of May in 2013 in Metrol on "Religious exercise rights of prisoners (sentenced and detained persons) in the Republic of Serbia."

This roundtable was conceived to share the experiences of all traditional churches and religious communities, which are related to the religious rights of prisoners and the contribution that religious communities can provide by working with these people. Some of the issues and themes of discussion was related to the role they may have churches and religious communities in achieving one of the essential purpose of serving a prison sentence-socialization.


Deputy Ombudsman Milos Jankovic will be a featured speaker at the conference Creation of new practices in prisons in the Republic of Serbia, which is part of the project "From making to breaching the law" which will be held at the Human Rights on Monday, 27 May.

On 09th and 10 May 2013th in the premises of the Serbian Ombudsman the conference under the title "The participation of civil society and experts in the performance of NPMA - Experiences and Challenges" within the project "Together against Torture", which is funded by the European Union through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights EIDHR was held.

The conference was attended by representatives of NGOs of Serbia and of the region and many national and international experts organized by the International Aid Network (IAN).
