The National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) team visited the District Prison and the Police Department in Užice on April 19 and 20, 2018.

During the visit to the District Prison, the team conducted interviews with the government and the officers of the Institution and all persons deprived of liberty and visited the dormitories and other rooms for the accomodation of persons. The visit to the Police Department was aimed at monitoring the acting upon the recommendations made after the previous NPM visit, and the team visited the room for retention of citizens and conducted interviews with the police officers.

All officials of the visited institutions cooperated with the NPM and enabled it to fulfill it's mandate.

On February 20, 2018, the National Preventive Mechanism visited the Bogovađa Asylum Center, in order to monitor the compliance with recommendations which the NPM addressed to the competent authorities in order to improve treatment of migrants and asylum seekers, as well as recommendations of the Committee against Torture from Concluding observations on the second periodic report of the Republic of Serbia.

In the course of the visit, the NPM team members talked with the staff of the Center, reviewed the records and other documentation, visited the premises for accommodation and activities of migrants and asylum seekers and conducted confidential interviews with them.

NPM visited the District Prison, the Police Administration, the General Hospital Psychiatry Service and the Gerontological Center in Krusevac, in the period from 7 to 9 February 2018.

During the visits to these institutions NPM monitored the treatment of state bodies towards the citizens and the conditions in which they are staying. The management of the visited institutions established full cooperation with the NPM team.

On January 29 2018, the National Preventive Mechanism visited the Obrenovac Reception Center for migrants, in order to monitor the situation in the Center, as well as the actions of the competent authorities regarding previosly sent recommendations. This was the third visit to this Reception Center since its opening in January 2017.

On 21 December 2017, the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) teams visited two penitentiary-correctional institutes located in Padinska Skela, Belgrade. During the visit to the ''Penitentiary-correctional institute in Belgrade'', the possibilities of involving as many prisoners as possible in the joint activities were considered, while the team which visited the ''Penitentiary-correctional institute in Belgrade - Padinska Skela'' get acquainted with the activities undertaken by the Institute to implement the previous recommendations of the NPM.

Management and staff of the visited institutes realized full cooperation with the NPM teams and provided them with all the required informations.
