Acting on the recommendations of the NPM, the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration improve the system of coordination and governance in a reception center for migrants in Presevo, whose functioning is very complex, bearing in mind that it involves representatives of various authorities and services, and the fact that through it daily passing a very large number of refugees / migrants. House rules are translated in English, French, Arabic and Farsi, as well as notice of the possibility of filing complaints of corruption (in English and Arabic language). Measures were taken to improve the hygienic conditions in the Centre and its immediate surroundings, three tents are provided in which refugees / migrants can be accommodated while awaiting registration, order taking cover during bad weather conditions. It also undertaken concrete measures for providing rooms that will be accessible to persons with disabilities, as well as a special office where unimpeded and confidential conversation can be conducted between social workers and especially vulnerable categories of refugees / migrants.
The Ombudsman is carrying out the work of the National Mechanism for Prevention of Torture (NPM) in September 2015 visited the reception center for migrants in Presevo, as well as the competent authorities who treat refugees / migrants, who in the Republic of Serbia are coming in large numbers from the direction of Macedonia.
