NPM visited the Police Department Novi Pazar and asylum centers in Sjenica and Tutin, on 01 and 02 September 2016, in order to monitor the implementation of the recommendations addressed in 2014, as well as to monitor the competent authorities tretment towards migrants / asylum seekers.
Tim NPM on 25 August 2016 visited the Institution for adults and elderly "Gvozden Jovančićević" in Veliki Popovac, in order to determine the treatment of beneficarians and the conditions in which they reside. In addition to representatives of the Ombudsman, members of the team for the visit were representatives of the Initiative for the rights of people with mental disabilities (MDRI) and the expert - a specialist in forensic medicine.
Tim NPM on 24 August 2016 visited the Center for asylum in Bogovadja, in order to monitor the actions of the competent authority towards asylum seekers / migrants. Besides the representatives of the Ombudsman, members of the team for the visit were representatives of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, as well as a translator of Arabic language.
Acting on the recommendations of the NPM, General Hospital Subotica has adopted the procedure of physical restraint of patients and has made available to all health workers Department of Psychiatry. At the professional collegium of the Service of Psychiatry detail was considered and adopted the text of the NPM Report on the visit with all the recommendations and suggestions.
Department for Inspection Affairs of the Ministry of Health informed the NPM that the medical inspector of the Department of Health Inspection, Department of Novi Sad, performed extraordinary inspection of the General Hospital Subotica and in accordance with its powers, and based on the Report of NPM, issued a decision ordering the removal of identified deficiencies in the healthcare institution.
NPM has visited the General Hospital Subotica - Department of Psychiatry, 24 and 25 March 2016, after which it was submitted Report on the visit with recommendations to remedy the shortcomings.
Acting on the recommendations of the NPM, District Prison in Leskovac has performed the renovation of the kitchen and dining room, as well as the adaptation of premises for visit of close persons. A larger number of common bathrooms and toilets has been renovated and made a regular hygienic whitewashing all the rooms and corridors of the "old pavilion." The project was made to build a new facility closed within the existing complex of the Prison, whose construction should begin in early 2017, with a capacity for about 500 persons. The new facility is planned to include workshops in which they will be allowed to work engagement, and prisoners who are classified into the closed ward.
Directorate for Execution of Criminal Sanctions informed the NPM that in the framework of the EU - IPA Fund 2013 for the training of employees and improvement of training programs of the Centre for training and vocational training, started the implementation of training for trainers employed in the service of treatment for the implementation of specialized treatment programs for prisoners, for the managers of the departments, members of the security service and health care workers.
NPM visited District Prison in Leskovac on 28 April 2016, in order to monitor the implementation of the recommendations addressed in the Report on the visit in 2015.
